Short triangular transport lacquered beam, made  of  hardened aluminium alloy, has adjustable knife  edges.

Rider scale, fitted in front of the beam, has 100  notches  with  zero at the center.

Pointer is deflected to 5 scale divisions with the  addition  of 1mg, weight in its normal position.

To damp the oscillation of the balance two inverted  aluminium  cups are suspended from the lower  hook of  the stirrups and  another set of cups is  clamped to the  stand of  the balance to  accommodate the suspended  cups, with a  uniform  space  between the two. Air  cushion is formed when  the beam is  released and the  oscillation are  thereby  dampened.
